Avocados are the best thing ever.
Below you will find the recipe for my famous guacamole. It’s famous because that’s what my boyfriend calls it! I’ve tried recipes and used pre-made mixes for guacamole, and I still find that this way is my favorite. I usually eyeball the ingredients- the picture below shows just about how much I used of each. Personally, I would use more cilantro, but my boyfriend Matt hates it, and I can only sneak in so much with out him noticing…
Tessa’s Famous Guacamole
- 2 ripe avocados
- About half a roma tomato
- Handful of diced red onion
- Your desired amount of cilantro, finely chopped
- Fresh ground pepper
- Garlic salt
- About two tablespoons of nutritional yeast- (my secret ingredient- this makes it taste good!)
I love the way nutritional yeast tastes on avocado! I first tried it in Oregon when I was visiting some friends. They all ate toast topped with avocado and the yeast. Almost every restaurant I went to had salt, pepper, and nutritional yeast shakers! It’s hard to describe, but it has almost a cheese flavor… If you haven’t tried it, you can get it at most health food stores.
First, mash up your avocados with a fork.
Chop up the tomato, onion, and cilantro and add it to the bowl.
Add the pepper, garlic salt, and nutritional yeast.
Stir it up and eat with some chips or crackers.
Guacamole is a great substitute for mayo on sandwiches- it’s really good on tuna!
