Detox Green Smoothie

Green smoothie with pears

Every time I make a smoothie (which isn’t really that often) I remember how great they are and why I have a blender in the first place! I experimented with this smoothie, and it was extra delicious- so good that I have already made it three times! This smoothie in particular is pretty light and filled with all the nutritional goodness that your body needs!

I posted a picture of this smoothie on Facebook when I made it and a couple of my friends commented on it saying how it was a “gross smoothie” and tried to make fun of me like I was torturing myself by drinking this. Well Facebook friends… the joke is on you because this smoothie is in NO way “gross.” I’d drink this everyday! The green color comes from the spinach and kale- and if you are worried that these delicious greens make it gross, you honestly don’t even taste it under the sweet flavors of the other fruit.

So if you have never experimented with smoothies made with things other than bananas, strawberries and ice cream, I dare you to try this smoothie. You will love it and you will feel great after drinking it.

Detox Green Smoothie

Makes two full glasses of smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 Green D’Anjou pear
  • 1 Ambrosia apple (or a similar sweet variety)
  • A handful of kale
  • A handful of spinach
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 6 Cubes of ice
  • Dash of apple or orange juice, if needed

To Do:

Remove the seeds and chop up the pear and apple. Peel and dice the ginger.

Throw everything (pear, apple, kale, spinach, ginger, lemon juice, ice) into a blender.

Blend it until smooth!

(I had a little trouble getting the blender to chop up everything at first, so I added a dash of apple juice to help it get started.)

This so happens to my my 99th recipe post!! Can you believe it? Almost 100?! I need to do something epic for post 100 and I think I have just the food in mind… In about a week from now, I will post my 100th recipe and you will see some sweet new changes to this blog as well!  See you then!
